Celtic Standing Stone c. 2800 BCE. Dolerite, 0.73 x 1.70 m (29 x 67"). Courtesy of the Celtic Museum of Modern Antiquities, Cornwall.
Another standing stone found at Castle Tîrgu, though a hard-wearing dolerite originating in the Celtic British Isles. The imagery of four inset and raised intertwining bands, a strong Celtic symbol of community, dominates the stone. The Ogham text, running vertically upwards, reads "CIANO" or "GIANO" and is most likely a family or place name. The stone may have been used as a marker or landmark.
